Visual Arts Therapy In Calgary
What is Visual Arts Therapy?
Visual Arts Therapy uses the act of making art to help people work through emotions, process experiences, and build self-understanding. The goal isn’t to create something perfect; it's to use the materials — like paint, pastels, or clay — to give shape to what you’re feeling.
A typical session might involve painting your feelings, creating a sculpture of a memory, or simply exploring colors and shapes based on your mood. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. You’ll be gently guided but have lots of freedom to follow what feels right for you. Some days might feel light and playful, while others might feel deep and emotional — and that’s all part of the process.
