TCC’s Operations Team - Calgary, AB (Hybrid)
Marketing Assistant
Reports To: Marketing Coordinator
Location: Calgary, AB — hybrid (3 days in person, 1 remote)
Position Type: Contractor
Hours: 11am - 3pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (16 hours/ week)
Compensation: $22 -24/ hour
Interview Timeframe: October 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd
Target Start Date: Early November
Role Description:
The Marketing Assistant is a creative and organized support role within The Cognitive Corner’s marketing team, with a primary focus on the New Therapist Network (NTN). Working closely with the Marketing Coordinator, this person will help grow NTN’s digital presence and community through consistent content community engagement, social media support, website support, and day-to-day marketing execution. They will also provide secondary marketing support to The Cognitive Corner as needed.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about mental health, has strong creative instincts, understands social media and other digital marketing tools, and enjoys turning ideas into polished, on-brand content. We’re looking for someone who is curious, resourceful, dependable, and eager to grow their marketing skills within a growing mental health organization. The right candidate can contribute ideas, take direction well, manage recurring responsibilities without constant prompting, and pay attention to the details that make a brand feel cohesive and thoughtful. They’re naturally interested in understanding what’s working, why it’s working, and what the team could try next.
New Therapist Network (NTN) Marketing & Growth
Support the day-to-day execution of NTN’s marketing strategy, with a focus on increasing awareness, engagement, community participation, and interest in NTN offerings.
Help develop and execute marketing campaigns for NTN programs, events, resources, launches, and other initiatives under the direction of the Marketing Coordinator.
Pay attention to NTN marketing performance and audience behaviour, helping track relevant metrics and identify patterns in what drives engagement, interest, and conversion.
Bring forward ideas for experiments, campaigns, partnerships, content, and community touchpoints that could help NTN reach and better serve early-career therapists.
Maintain awareness of the conversations, questions, challenges, and interests relevant to NTN’s audience so marketing remains useful and connected to the community.
NTN Content & Community
Support the creation and execution of NTN social media content, including brainstorming concepts, researching topics, preparing posts, writing captions, scheduling/publishing, and repurposing existing content.
Support ongoing community engagement and brand communication, helping NTN maintain an active, warm, responsive, and valuable presence online.
Research and draft educational or resource-based content for NTN, including blog posts and other longer-form content based on content and SEO priorities.
Assist with NTN content filming and production as needed, including preparing ideas and materials, filming support, and turning recorded content into usable marketing assets.
Digital Marketing Support
Support NTN email marketing, including preparing and formatting newsletters, promotional emails, nurture content, event communications, and other campaigns.
Make routine updates to NTN website pages and digital resources through the website CMS and support new pages or improvements as needed.
Apply basic SEO principles to NTN blogs and website content, including keywords, headings, page structure, and search-friendly copy.
Proofread and quality-check NTN marketing materials before publication to ensure accuracy, clarity, formatting, links, and brand consistency.
TCC Marketing Support
Provide secondary support for The Cognitive Corner’s social media, website, email marketing, events, campaigns, and other marketing initiatives as capacity and priorities require.
Assist during TCC content filming days, including preparing ideas and materials, helping with filming logistics, capturing content, and supporting the Marketing Coordinator and team throughout production.
Create and adapt simple visual content in Canva for NTN and TCC, including stories, graphics, promotional assets, and resizing or reformatting existing designs for different platforms.
Write and edit clear, engaging, on-brand copy across both brands when needed.
Marketing Operations & Team Support
Support the creation and execution of social media content across NTN and related platforms, including brainstorming concepts, preparing posts, writing captions, and assisting with scheduling and publishing content.
Bring strong social media awareness and creative instinct to the role by noticing relevant formats, trends, conversations, and opportunities that could translate appropriately to the NTN brand.
Assist during content filming days, including preparing ideas and materials, helping with filming logistics, capturing content, and supporting the Marketing Coordinator and team throughout production.
Create and adapt simple visual content in Canva, including stories, graphics, promotional assets, and resizing or reformatting existing designs for different platforms.
Support community engagement and brand communication across social platforms by responding, engaging, and helping maintain a warm, thoughtful, and consistent brand presence.
Maintain organized marketing files, content assets, drafts, and project information so materials are easy for the team to locate and use.
Support marketing campaigns, events, launches, and community initiatives with the practical execution needed to move projects forward.
Track assigned marketing tasks and deadlines and proactively communicate progress, questions, or roadblocks to the Marketing Coordinator.
Bring forward ideas, observations, and opportunities for content or brand improvement rather than waiting exclusively for assigned tasks.
Pay attention to basic marketing performance and audience response, helping track relevant metrics and noticing patterns in what performs well, what does not, and what the team could learn from it.
Understand the purpose behind assigned work and ask thoughtful questions when context is unclear, rather than approaching marketing as a checklist of disconnected tasks.
Be willing to learn new marketing tools and skills independently as the needs of the role and organization evolve.
Required Qualifications:
Experience creating content for social media, a brand, organization, personal platform, or similar setting.
Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different platforms and audiences.
Strong social media awareness and an intuitive understanding of what makes digital content engaging, clear, and relevant.
Working knowledge of Canva and comfort creating or adapting simple graphics and social media assets.
Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and ability to manage multiple recurring tasks and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, learn independently, problem-solve, and follow through on responsibilities without ongoing prompting.
Genuine curiosity about marketing, content, audience behaviour, and what makes a campaign or piece of content effective.
Comfortable receiving feedback and collaborating closely with a Marketing Coordinator while independently executing assigned work.
Access to a reliable laptop suitable for day-to-day marketing work
Reliable high-speed internet connection for virtual workdays
Ability to work from the Calgary office on required in-person days (5 Richard Way, SW)
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-secondary education or training in marketing, communications, public relations, media, design, business, psychology, or a related field considered an asset.
Experience using a website CMS and making basic website updates.
Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and keyword-informed writing.
Experience writing blog posts, marketing emails, website copy, event descriptions, or social media captions.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, or similar tools.
Experience supporting content filming, photography, short-form video, or social media production.
Interest in mental health, wellness, therapy, community building, or mission-driven organizations.
Experience supporting events, workshops, or digital communities
Experience with community management or membership-based platforms
Experience with analytics and reporting

You’ll be joining a collaborative environment where your ideas are welcome, your skills can grow, and you’ll have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of NTN’s day-to-day marketing while gaining hands-on experience across social media, email, digital marketing, content creation, website management, campaigns, and community growth. As The Cognitive Corner and New Therapist Network continues to expand, this role is expected to evolve into a full time position. You’ll work closely with the Marketing Coordinator while also supporting TCC marketing priorities as needed.
