About Mina:
My name is Mina and I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor dedicated to assisting individuals, couples and families through life’s unique challenges. My practice provides a warm and safe place for people to be seen, heard and supported when life feels overwhelming. Drawing upon a depth of life experience and a mixed cultural upbringing (Pakistani and Bosnian), I am well qualified to assist you through life’s challenging moments and transitions. After teaching high school students for over 20 years and seeing so many of them struggle with their mental health, I was inspired to go back to school to become a therapist. For me the mind-body connection is foundational in therapy. Trauma and emotional overwhelm often live in the nervous system, so before moving into cognitive or narrative processing, I focus on regulation, resourcing and safety. Integrating my extensive knowledge of yoga and somatic work into my sessions provides unique tools for my clients to build awareness. When clients feel safe, we can slow down and create space, in that space we can see new perspectives to respond rather than react to life’s challenges.

About Mina’s Approach
I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, with a specialization in trauma and have been working in the health and wellness field since 2005. My approach is holistic, compassionate and supportive, helping people identify their strengths and empowering them to move through life’s challenges. My core intention in therapy is to create a safe and attuned container where clients feel resourced enough to experience and process emotions that may have been held in the body for a long time. I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities into my work through a trauma-informed lens, with a focus on Narrative Therapy, somatic techniques, mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) attachment theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), always tailoring the work to the client’s nervous system and cultural context. Working together we can reframe thought patterns, regulate emotions, process trauma and build resilience. I’m deeply aligned with the idea that healing happens when clients reconnect to themselves, physically, emotionally and relationally.
Along with my clinical training, I bring a depth of lived experience as a divorced single mother of two teens, someone who has navigated chronic illness, and a long-time educator and yoga and meditation teacher. These life experiences influence how I show up with humility, curiosity and compassion in the therapy room.
